Our Des Moines, IA Visit - February 20, 2010

Our day started at THQ in Des Plaines at about 10:30 am where we boarded our the bus that would take us across the state of Illinois and half way across Iowa to Des Moines, IA. The Salvation Army in Des Moines invited us to come and provide a Saturday evening concert at the First Baptist Church of Greater Des Moines.

We arrived in time to set up before having a quick sandwich for dinner and make our concert preparations. A nice responsive crowd was on hand for the concert that included the items listed below. We'll be back at First Baptist in the morning to participate in the worship service at 9:30 am.

  • El Es Él Señor (Dean Jones)

  • Blessed Assurance (Stephen Bulla/Ben Kinzie – soloist)

  • Sirocco (Peter Graham)

  • Soon & Very Soon (Andrae Crouch/Karl Strand – soloist)

  • Then Will The Very Rocks Cry Out (arr. Hayes)

  • The Guardian (Peter Graham/Brett Tolcher – soloist)

  • Cause For Celebration (William Himes)

  • Concertante For Cornets and Band (Stephen Bulla)

  • Lord, Lord, You Sure Been Good To Me (arr. Alexander)

  • He Leadeth Me (Kellner)

  • Vitae Aeternum (Paul Lovatt-Cooper)

  • The Stars & Stripes Forever (John Philip Sousa, arr. Himes)

  • Choral Benediction (William Himes)

Special thanks to Major David Corliss, Arvid Huisman and the many officers of the Western Division for their support of this weekend.
